Qualified & dedicated staff
Wow Kids is a private day nursery and after school club that opened in February 2013. Our qualified and experienced staff are dedicated to the development of the babies and young children in their care. We pride ourselves in basing the children’s play experiences around their individual developmental needs. There are always lots of stimulating activities on offer and plenty of fun things to do, both indoors and outside.
We follow the EYFS framework
All welfare and educational activities throughout the nursery follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, which is the statutory governing document for childcare providers. We are regularly inspected to ensure we meet (or indeed exceed) the requirements of the EYFS by Ofsted, the Local Education Authority and the Health Authorities. In 2018 we were again awarded a “Good” rating by Ofsted. You can view our report here.
An individual approach
We operate a Key Person system, whereby your child is allocated a Nursery Practitioner who will support both you and your child’s needs. They will build up a strong bond with your child during their time with us and help them to feel safe and secure in their new environment. The Key Person is also responsible for building up a Learning Journey for your child. This will include observations, photographs and art work, as well as individually planned next steps to support their individual needs. We cater for a range of dietary requirements, with three nutritious meals per day for full time children who are ready for solid food.
Special Educational Needs (SEN)
In Wow Kids we have extensive experience in supporting children with special educational needs, children with disabilities and those whose first language is not English.
Educational & fun
We help to develop children's confidence by encouraging them to choose the activities they want to engage in. However, we also initiate adult-led activities to extend learning. These are themed on a monthly basis so that children gain knowledge and understanding of life topics through activities that they would not necessarily initiate themselves. Topics include themes such as Ourselves, Minibeasts, Seasons, Around the World, Holidays and Celebrations.
All activities are delivered through exploration and play, and our children benefit from a structured, safe and well-resourced environment.
Our facilities
Babies (2 months up to 2 years)
Babies have their own activity and sleep room. In the room babies learn to use their five senses, to develop co-ordination and to explore their new world and abilities. Above all, a high ratio of qualified staff gives the individual attention, cuddles, reassurance, presence and continuity your baby needs to feel safe and secure.
Toddlers (children aged 2 years)
As soon as children are confident on their feet they’re ready to go exploring! We encourage toddlers to continue learning about themselves, their environment and the world we live in by providing a full range of resources to support our monthly themes and activities. Here your child will learn to be creative with paint, water and sand; have fun with other children solving construction problems with building blocks; start to read with books from our library, dance, sing and play with musical instruments.
Pre-school (3 to 5 years)
Our pre-school rooms are treasure troves of fun equipment and toys designed to stimulate and support the Seven Key Areas of Learning of the EYFS. Children roll their sleeves up in the Wet and Messy area and spend time reading, writing, drawing and using the IT.
Out of School Club
The school club room provides children opportunities to build on their school education with creative and educational activities. They also have access to IT, traditional games and the movie time so they can kick off their shoes and relax after a long days learning.
Outdoor
We’re passionate about outdoor play and have three outdoor play areas so children can fill their lungs with fresh air, stretch their legs, learn about Mother Nature, watch spiders weave their webs, race each other, play tag, dig holes, make mud pies, climb things and jump in puddles.
We have a dedicated baby area for our tiniest guests to explore the sights, sounds and textures of nature. Toddlers and pre-school children have two areas to explore. Our grassed mini park is complete with a tunnel, bridges, sand pit and natural resources to explore and our hard-surfaced playground ideal for bikes, playhouses and group games.
After a day at Wow Kids, your child will be ready for a cuddle and a story and a good night’s sleep... ready for the next day’s adventures!
